You’ve Sent “Shallow” to the Quarter Finals!!!
Thanks to all of your votes and support! Out of all the entries, “Shallow” has made it into the top 20 and into the quarter finals of the Lilth Fair Competition!!! The quarter finals only last until Friday night, so please keep voting to send me to Lilth Fair in July!
Previous Posting about Directions is re-posted below:
As some of you may know, my song “Shallow” has been entered into this incredible contest to open at **Lilth Fair in Boston, this summer! A few days ago it had even made it into the top ten! It has now slipped to the 18th slot, so I need your help! I need you to vote for “Shallow” on Ourstage. The way this website works… is different from most. In order to make judging fair and more about the music, and less about a popularity contest, they have a system that doesn’t allow you to directly just vote for the artist you like again and again. Instead, you have to listen to a sampling of other music as well. You can vote for my song as many times as you would like though!
Here are some tips that have been passed on to me from some of you:
1.) You first have to make a “fan” account in order to vote. To do that, go here: http://www.ourstage.com/register_user
2.) Next, go here: http://www.ourstage.com/profile/meghanbeaudry and to the upper right corner next to my bio there’s a bright green box that says “Make This My Favorite Artist” and click the green button. This guarantees that your artist (me) will come up during judging at least once per day in the first twenty battles that you judge.
3.) Lastly, go here: http://www.ourstage.com/judge?channel=248-lilith-local-talent-search-boston *special tip, you only need to listen to 15 seconds of a song in order to vote, you don’t have to listen to the whole thing. Also, if you go back the next day and get the same song, you don’t need to listen to it again.
Happy judging!
(<–yes, the irony is intended :-p)
….I know there may be a lot of steps involved and I appreciate you for taking that time to support me and potentially send me to Lilth Fair!
**Lilth Fair:
From 1997 through 1999, Lilith Fair was one of the highest grossing touring festivals in the world, with over 1.5 million fans in attendance and raising over $10 million dollars for national and local charities. Founded by Grammy-award winning artist Sarah McLachlan along with Dan Fraser, Marty Diamond and Terry McBride, Lilith Fair was the only tour of its kind—a celebration of women in music featuring artists like Sheryl Crow, Christina Aguilera, Erykah Badu, The Dixie Chicks, Missy Elliot, The Pretenders, Nelly Furtado, Jewel, Queen Latifah, Indigo Girls, Tegan and Sara and of course, Sarah McLachlan.
Nearly 6 months ago, Nettwerk CEO and Lilith Fair co-founder Terry McBride announced that the all-female festival would make its return in Summer 2010.

Along with her childhood greatest allies LaTayia Roberson, Kelly Rowland and LeToya Luckett, Beyonce started performing at local functions during her teenage years. Known by the nickname “Girl’s Tyme” during this period, the group became rather popular and even appeared on the tv show Star Search with Ed McMahon, though they did not come through the passing cut. During this early point, Beyonce’s father left his steady line of work to give all his time and energy to handling and boosting the band. Still today her male parent, Matthew Knowles, handles Beyonce’s vocation.

FYI folks – have seen a lot of grants get approved recently for women starting day care businesses. Looks like an excellent business for a woman, especially minority, to try to fund with grant funds!
